GREAT NECK, NY -- The North Shore-LIJ Health System today announced the opening of single destination for orthopedic, neuroscience and imaging services at 611 Northern Boulevard in Great Neck. The state-of-the-art facility gives patients convenient access to the vast resources and services offered by the North Shore-LIJ Health System, the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. It offers a multidisciplinary approach that brings together expert resources to provide a better experience for patients and a more cohesive environment for clinicians. The specialties include:
University Orthopaedic Associates
University Orthopaedic Associates, a division of North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and LIJ Medical Center, is the premier provider of orthopedic care in the region.
"Our office consists of subspecialty-trained orthopedic surgeons and leaders in the fields of joint replacement and sports medicine who use the most advanced technologies and techniques to provide individualized care for a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions," said Nicholas Sgaglione , MD, chair of orthopedic surgery at North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center, and professor of orthopedic surgery at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. Cushing Neuroscience Institute
As a leading provider in neuroscience services, the North Shore-LIJ Health System's Cushing Neuroscience Institute's (CNI) new Great Neck facility enhances the community's access to comprehensive neurosurgical and neurological conditions. "From the new location, we offer access to an entire team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropsychologists, nurses and nurse practitioners," said Raj Narayan, MD, director of CNI, chair of neurosurgery at NSUH and LIJ Medical Center, and professor of neurosurgery at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. "With on-site imaging services, our newly built facility is truly a single destination for the most all-inclusive, comprehensive neurosurgical and neurological care in the region.
Ronald Kanner, MD, chair of neurology at NSUH and LIJ Medical Center , and professor of neurology at the medical school, explained that CNI's multidisciplinary continuum of neuroscience programs "combine medicine, scientific research and technology, clinical programs, surgical techniques and education to advance the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases and disorders." He said that CNI uses state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose and treat a wide range of neurological conditions and disorders of the brain and spine, and serves as a destination for patients from around the world.

Along with the expansion of orthopedic and the neuroscience services, the new facility also features the specialized services of North Shore-LIJ Imaging at Great Neck, which provides patients with cutting-edge, low-dose digital technology and equipment, including: 3 tesla wide-bore magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which offers more space and comfort; 1.5 tesla extremity MRI; 64-slice, low-dose computed tomography (CT); ultrasound; and musculoskeletal and neuroradiological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
